February IBRA newsletter
Well my ole grand dad told me it thaws a little each day in February. I don't know about you but I am certainly ready for summer and tank tops.
Wanted to remind everyone about the tack sale and swap meet coming up on February 25th @ Portland fairgrounds. Swap meet is from 9a-4p, auction starts @ 5 p. Consignments are welcome and there are still a few booths available. Please contact our show committee director Chad Bricker @ 260-703-0839 for more information. There is a flyer above this newsletter so give it a quick look for the entire scoop on this upcoming fundraiser. Proceeds go towards Indiana's state show & any left over money will end up in the yearend awards so plan on attending. ATTENTION EVERYONE: A GREAT MEMBER: Jenny Creech is in charge of the kitchen @ the swap and tack sale. She needs your help with some donated items and workers for the kitchen so please contact her @ jenlitton22@hotmail.com. Look above for the attached kitchen signup sheet and come have some fun and support our club. Workers will qualify for a free stall so sign up now!
Another exciting fund raiser is the match race competition involving the north vs. the south. This will run in conjunction with the March 10th Cloverdale open barrel race. Kelly Bricker says the dividing line is state road 70 if you’re wondering what team to be on. Teams are forming quickly and the stakes are high. The losing side has to barbecue @ the IBRA state show in August. And did you know that 50% of the entry money goes to fund this year’s state show. The other 50% goes back in the pot for payout. Kelly wants to remind everyone of the cost: $20 per person entry fee x 5 riders =$100 per team. If you want to be on a team you can sign up at the show to join. So come and have fun and help support the Indiana state show.
And last but not least our Indiana IBRA charity. Another GREAT MEMBER: Beth Whitaker-Williamson is in charge and has chosen the web site at the Susan G Komen foundation to support Breast cancer. You may see 50/50 tickets being sold @ the shows on Saturdays, please buy a ticket to help fund our charity. Or you can go directly to the web site to make a donation and watch the progress of the Indiana IBRA donations. To access the web site on my computer I pushed the Ctrl button and the left click button at the same time while I hover over this address:
http://www.info-komen.org/site/TR/PassionatelyPink/HeadquartersSite?team_id=199805&pg=team&fr_id=2263
Then I went to the top of the page that loaded and clicked on “give to a team”. The team leader button is automatically clicked on this page and I typed in Beth Whitaker-Williamson and at the bottom of the page our IBRA team comes up. Then I went under the column “donate now” and it walks you through the progress. When I went to the team page by putting in IBRA it was a little confusing for me but then I am not great with a computer so you might be able to figure it out better than I could. Either way you access the site it will be fun to watch our clubs progress in raising money to help our family and friends that have been affected by breast cancer. Well until next month.
