| Question:
Why was the International Barrel Racing Association
started?
Answer:
The IBRA was started, quite simply, to encourage
larger participation at local approved shows by working
with other associations and to give our members better
recognition for their yearlong efforts with an outstanding
awards program.
Question: I am already a member of a different
association, why should I join the IBRA?
Answer: For a $45.00 single membership
fee or $95 family membership fee, you will become a
member of the EBFA and IBRA and you could possibly be
eligible for 7 different standings and awards.
1. EBFA Futurity Top 10 Standings for 5-year-olds.
2. EBFA Futurity Top 10 Standings for 4-year-olds.
3. EBFA Futurity Top 10 Limited Rider Standings
4. EBFA Open 4-D Standings Top 5 each division
5. IBRA State 4-D Standings Top 5 each division
6. IBRA (Possible State 3-D Youth Standings)
7. IBRA National Finals Championship
Along with over $50,000 added to our National Finals
in October, we have put together an awards package that
anyone would be proud to win.
Question: Are there any horse or rider
requirements that my horse or myself must meet to join?
Answer: NO, The IBRA is open to everyone;
beginners, intermediates, professionals, weekend warriors,
young and old alike. Your horse does not have to be
registered and may be of any breed.
Question: How do I become a member of
the IBRA?
Answer: You may apply 3 different ways.
Print out the membership application on the website
and send it in the mail with a check.
Fill out the online membership application using a credit
card.
Join at the 1st show that you wish to compete in. Your
membership will then be sent in with the show results.
Question: May I choose to run for points
in any state or does it have to be the state I live
in?
Answer: When you join, you will be asked
to choose a designated state. The state you designate
does not have to be the state you live in. However,
you may only have one designated state. You may switch
states during the course of the year, although you will
lose any points you have accumulated to that point.
We also offer the Open Range. This was designed to accommodate
those members whose states have less than eight shows
per season. It also allows those IBRA members who wish
to compete in any IBRA show, regardless of location,
to continue to accumulate points. Open Range will be
considered a state in itself, however, there will be
no year-end awards. If a member designates a specific
state, all normal rules apply, and prizes will be awarded
at years-end.
Question: As the Show Committee, why should
I approve IBRA?
Answer: Now that the 4-D's are becoming
more popular, the added money is increasing, but so
are the expenses. It is becoming difficult to decide
which shows to attend. By co-approving the IBRA at your
local shows, our members will help support your show
by increasing the number of entries. IBRA members will
attend approved shows to accumulate points for year-end
awards and Championship Standings. There is no sanctioning
fee or non-members fee and the IBRA will abide by your
shows existing rules. All that the IBRA requires is
two dollars per contestant from the approved class only.
