Hey Michele! I sent you an email, but I don't know if it worked, so I decided that I would get on here to tell you about my idea. Anybody from the PA IBRA can tell me what you think of the idea too. Okay...here goes:
To help with the year-end awards, I came up with an idea to raise money and have fun doing it. There is a mountain right by my house that has miles of trails. I thought we could put markers up there and have a competitive trail ride. Contestants must pay $15 to enter. $5 of each entry fee will go to the winner and $10 from each entry fee will go to the PA IBRA year-end awards. Anybody can enter...not just IBRA members. I know I could get quite a few from around my house. I think it would be a good time to exercise our horses, have fun, and raise money for the awards. I would be willing to do the markers, check the trails for disasters, make up fliers, etc, etc, etc. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Hi...
This may not be a bad idea to raise money.
Here are some things you will need to think about...
Waiver form
Permission to ride on ground with the waiver
Is it competitive or just for fun to raise some money. You could have riders just pay so much to go on the trail ride.
When...with the show season really starting to get in swing there's not many days open that people won't be showing somewhere. Fall may be a good idea and it would really be pretty out.
Trailer parking
I appreciate you coming up with an idea and it sounds great. These are just a few things to think about. You may want to ask around to see if anyone has ever put on a ride and how they handled everything.
We could also hold a cover dish where everyone paid so much to eat, 50/50, or even a small silent auction the day of the ride.
Does anyone else have any suggestions or comments, or have you put on a Trail ride to raise money?

Well, we always ride on the ground, that's not a big deal. The land is owned by the state. I think your idea is better. To just have fun instead of making it competitive. We have an old elementary school that's the township building now and my dad has access to it. That's where everybody could park. The trail is only a little ways from there anyway. Fall would be a good time to do it unless you wanna do it soon before everybody starts showing. Food, 50/50, and silent auction would be a good idea too. Just let me know. I'm here to plan everything if you need me to. _________________ The more people I meet, the more I love my **HORSE**

You should probably wait till Fall. I'm already showing the calendar booked for several of months.
Why don't you put something together and we can discuss it. It would be a nice way to start the year off and raise some money for next year's awards.
Thanks...Michele |
